The arguments in the landmark trial of Senator Mike Duffy are over.
Justice Charles Vaillancourt says the earliest he’ll deliver his verdict is April 21.
Over 60 days of testimony spread over ten months has wrapped up with two days of final submissions from the Crown and defence.
The 69-year-old Duffy faces 31 charges of fraud, breach of trust and bribery.
They relate to his Senate expenses as well as for accepting a $90,000 cheque from former Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s one-time chief of staff to help repay some of the claims.
The Crown alleged Duffy deliberately sought ways around the rules so as to cover his personal expenses.
His lawyers argued the Crown did not prove that the Senator did anything criminal.
