The head of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television is leaving the stage.
Helga Stephenson says she’s looking ahead to more world travel and other challenges.
Stephenson will remain chief executive officer until the position is filled – and the academy says an executive search is underway.
Under her five-year tenure, Stephenson lead the charge into the merger of the academy’s film, television and digital media awards – the Genies and Geminis – which have become the Canadian Screen Awards.
Stephenson was director of the Toronto International Film Festival in the late 1980s and early ’90s.
