A 10-inch record, the original 1962 demo by the Beatles, believed to be the only copy, will go on sale next month.
The record was made at the HMV store on Oxford Street in London.
Beatles Holy Grail
On the one side ”Hello Little Girl” while on the flip side was ”Till There Was You”.
The band’s manager Brian Epstein wrote the names of the songs on the label.
It was given to producer George Martin, who later signed the group.
The 78rpm record was found forgotten, carefully wrapped in paper for more than 50 years in the home of Les Maguire, keyboardist in another Liverpool act – Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Pacemakers
After Martin had returned it to Epstein, he gave it to Maguire in 1963 so that his band could listen to it.
Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn says the record would ”fascinate Beatles collectors” and would ”no doubt attract bids from those with deep pockets.”
The editor of Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide, Ian Shirley, described it as a ”Holy Grail item.”
The sale’s to take place at Omega Auctions March 22 and will be broadcast live online for bidding.
