Do you consider yourself happy?

How happy are Canadians?

The United Nations has just released its list of the happiest nations – and the Nordic countries are at the top of the smile index.

People from Denmark are said to be the happiest on the planet – closely followed by Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Finland.

And here in Canada – we’re number 6 !

Our neighbor to the south comes in at 13th place – while the United Kingdom is 23rd – just behind Singapore and just ahead of Chile.

Happiness is lowest in sub-Saharan Africa, with 8 of the 10 lowest scoring countries in the index.

War-torn Syria and Afghanistan respectively – occupy number 156 and 154 out of 157 countries.

Burundi is in last place.

The report provides evidence that inequality plays an important part – in how happy a country’s population is.
