Former mayors, a one-time premier and a past provincial chief justice, agree with the idea of supervised injection sites in Toronto.
The city’s medical officer of health has identified three existing facilities where the sites could open as a way to reduce the rising number of fatal drug overdoses.

Some of the notable Torontonians to sign the statement urging city council to support the idea, include former mayors David Crombie, John Sewell, Barbara Hall, David Miller, Alan Redway, former premier Bob Rae, former RCMP commissioner Norm Inkster and former Chief Justice of Ontario Roy McMurtry.
The proposed location for the injection sites include the Queen West-Central Toronto Community Health Centre, the South Riverdale Community Health Centre and the Toronto Public Health facility at Victoria Street and Dundas.
