Binnie Senators
Retired Supreme Court Justice Ian Binnie has decided that the final bill for the former and current members of the upper chamber is $177,898 – down from the original $322,611.
All but four of the 14 senators, who had Binnie review their expenses, had their expenses cut.
Only Lowell Murray, Dennis Patterson, Robert Peterson and Terry Stratton will have to repay the exact amount first flagged by the auditor general.
Binnie does not believe any of them were ”gaming the system,” adding they acted according to what they believed to be their entitlements.
