Chronic Research
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research says these networks will connect researchers, health professionals, policy-makers and patients across the country to improve the health of those living with such diseases.
The main areas of research include diabetes, chronic pain, child disability, gastrointestinal disorders and chronic kidney disease.
The networks will address priorities identified by patients and speed up translating research findings into health care policy and patient care.
Patients will be closely involved to ensure that the work focuses on what matters to them.
Health Minister Jane Philpott says the research will help reduce the cost of chronic conditions.
”We are pleased to support these networks, whose work will lead to better health and a better quality of life for Canadians and help reduce the burden of chronic diseases on our health care system.”
