EGLINTON SCAFFOLDING COLLAPSE INJURES SEVERAL, STROLLER SAVES BABY

Seven people have been taken to hospital after  scaffolding collapsed on Eglinton Avenue West, west of Bathurst Street shortly before 2:30p.m.
None of the injuries was life-threatening.

It happened during demolition at the site of the future Eglinton Crosstown LRT station.
A young couple and baby were among those rescued from the rubble.

Firefighters say the baby’s stroller, which was ”twisted and bent” from the accident, likely saved the infant’s life.
Eglinton Avenue is closed in that part of Forest Hill.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating to determine what caused the collapse.
