A man, who spent years trying to prove he was the love child of former Canadian prime minister John Diefenbaker, has died.

A friend says George Dryden took his own life Sunday in Burlington.
The 47-year-old Dryden, who had terminal pancreatic disease, blamed decades of alcohol abuse for is ill health.
He grew up in a Toronto family as the son of prominent federal Liberal Gordon Dryden.
However, about five years ago, a cousin told Dryden about the long time family rumour that his mother had an affair with Diefenbaker which resulted in his birth.
Dryden said his mother, a known confidante of the former prime minister, admitted to him she’d seen Diefenbaker privately around the time of his conception, just months after her marriage to Gordon Dryden.
He says she also told him his father’s name was John.
”I don’t have any doubts.  But nobody is going to say it.”
History books say the twice-married Diefenbaker was childless.
Dryden’s headstone will have both names – Dryden and Diefenbaker.
