While Toronto city council approved new ground transportation regulations last week that created a new category for Uber, the city to the west is not following the lead.

Mississauga politicians voted 10-2 to suspend ride sharing services such as Uber X.
However, it could legally operate there if it agrees to follow the same rules for the traditional taxi industry.
If Uber X and similar services do agree to pull over and park for now, then the city of Mississauga will form a committee to look at a ride-sharing pilot project and present council with a report in September.
Back in February, Brampton city council unanimously suspended Uber X until a public consultation process can be completed.
