Next time you’re at Mississauga CIty Hall, take a moment to behold the city’s newest piece of public art. It’s an open book titled “The Book.”
The sculpture depicts a book with two pages torn away from its spine, blowing in the wind.
The artist, lan Sandler, says the piece represents a form of poetic conflict. He says you can see the sculpture as a representation of a literary struggle, yet despite the attempt to bind ideas together, a page of thoughts escapes from the edge of Celebration Square and blows toward Mississauga’s central library.
The sculpture was donated by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.
