Canada’s tennis sweetheart says she’s overcome an eating disorder brought on by ”a lot of pressure” and the added expectation following her breakout year in 2014.
Speaking after her opening round win at the French Open, Eugenie Bouchard said he struggled with weight loss last year when her ranking slipped.
The 22-year-old Canadian finished 2014 as the 7th best women’s singles player in the world, after her loss in the Wimbledon final and semi-final appearances at the French and Australian Opens.
She tumbled to 48th by the end of 2015.
Crediting former coach Jimmy Connors for being a ”positive voice” late that year, Bouchard’s bounced back this season with a couple of tournament runner-up finishes, saying her play began to improve at last year’s U.S. Open, where she reached the fourth round before withdrawing after falling and suffering a concussion.
