No matter the outcome of the Toronto Raptors’ eastern conference final against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto’s mayor says the city will honour our NBA team.
The Raptors were embarrassed by the Cavs in game 5 last night 116-78 in Cleveland.
But John Tory told CP24 last night, some sort of a public celebration will be organized regardless of how far they go.
“We hope the parade you’re talking about will be the parade celebrating a big win, the biggest win of all, there would be a parade for sure. (The Raptors) would show up, but otherwise they go home because the season’s over and it’s hard to sort of muster up the team to have a parade,” Tory explained, “But we will do something I assure you, to celebrate their success regardless of where it goes from here, because these guys have put on a fantastic performance this year.”
This is the first time in the history of the Toronto Raptors that they’ve made it beyond the first round of the NBA playoffs. Game 6 of round 3 is back in Toronto Friday night at 8:30.
