The C-R-T-C has signed an agreement with 10 agencies in eight other countries – in an effort to more strongly enforce anti-spam laws.

Chairman Jean-Pierre Blais says the agreement sends a powerful message –  that the international enforcement community is dedicated to stopping  spammers from sending annoying – and sometimes dangerous – electronic spam.

The email marketing firm Cyberimpact says the Canadian law that came into effect nearly two years ago – has indeed resulted in a significant drop in digital spam originating in Canada – but some legal experts have questioned whether Canadian authorities may run into difficulty enforcing the law – against companies in foreign jurisdictions.
