Members of Ontario’s Stratford Festival are mourning the passing of a beloved member of their theatre family.
Tony winning designer Desmond Heeley has passed away at the age of 85.
Heeley’s career impacted not only the Stratford Festival, he designed shows for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milan, The Old Vic and a number of Broadway stages.
Heeley designed nearly 40 productions for the Stratford Festival, beginning with the 1957 production of Hamlet, starring Christopher Plummer.
