A handful of stops are being added in the city’s west-end as part of the much talked about SmartTrack plan.

Mayor John Tory’s initial plan called for 22 stops, but in March the proposed rapid transit network was scaled back to between four and eight GO Transit stops along with eight to 12 stations that’ll be part of the Eglinton West LRT extension.

Provincial Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca has now announced that four stops will go up along the Barrie and Kitchener lines.

The two on the Kitchener line will be located in Liberty Village and at St. Clair Avenue and Keele.

The two stops on the Barrie line will be at Bloor and Lansdowne Avenue and Spadina at Front.

Another two stations in the city’s east end are to be announced tomorrow.

The stations are being built and run by Metrolinx, whose board of directors will vote June 28 to approve construction.

Service along the corridors will eventually run every 10 minutes or less once the tracks are electrified by 2024.
