FBI: 'NO CHARGES ... APPROPRIATE'' IN HILLARY CLINTON EMAIL SCANDAL

FBI Director James Comey says the agency will not recommend criminal charges in its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state.

But he calls her actions ”extremely careless” and faulted the department she led for a lackadaisical approach to handling sensitive material but that there was no clear evidence Clinton and her team had intended to break the law.

”Although there is evidence of potential violations regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case,” Comey said.
His statement on the matter highlighted the FBI’s conclusion that many inappropriate steps were taken – even if they didn’t warrant criminal charges in the agency’s opinion.
Addressing inevitable complaints about the probe, Comey – a Republican – emphasized that this investigation was done ”honestly, competently and independently … No outside influence of any kind was brought to bear … Opinions are irrelevant … We did our investigation the right way.”
