The win is especially satisfying since Raonic lost to the Swiss star in the semis two years ago.
Heading into Friday’s match, the third seeded Federer held a 9-2 edge in head-to-head meetings with Raonic.
He’ll face local favourite Andy Murray who defeated Czech Tomas Berdych 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in the other semi-final.
The final’s Sunday morning at 8.
Murray won the title three years ago and is aiming to reach his 11th major final.
Berdych was runner-up in 2010.
