Unbeknownst to most, legendary Zoomer musician, singer, songwriter David Bowie had an extensive private art collection of nearly 300 works when he died in January at the age of 69.

The art is all headed for the Sotheby’s auction block in London in November and expected to fetch some $15 million.
Most of the works are by 20th Century British artists like Stanley Spencer, Patrick Caulfield and Peter Lanyon.  As well as paintings there are more than 100 items of 20th Century sculpture and furniture.
Proceeds will go to Bowie’s family although they say they don’t need the money.  They cite lack of space as the reason they’ve decided to sell.
