Canadian politicians are joining the outpouring of sympathy and outrage around the world – after a truck plowed into a crowd of people in Nice, France.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted that Canadians are shocked by the attack – and says Canada’s sympathy is with the victims.

Trudeau also expressed Canadians’ solidarity with the French people.

British Columbia Premier Christy Clark also said in a tweet that the incident is just horrible – and she is thinking of all those involved and their families.

The truck drove onto a sidewalk and plowed through a crowd of Bastille Day revelers –  gathered to enjoy the fireworks in the French resort city of Nice late Thursday.

French officials say at least 70 people were killed – and the truck was loaded with arms and grenades.

The driver was killed by police.
