Toronto could be the place that disgraced theatre impresario Garth Drabinsky begins a comeback.

The 66 year old showman served 17 months in jail for fraud and forgery over the 1998 collapse of his company Live-ent and is currently on parole.
According to the New York Post, Drabinsky is seeking funding in New York so he can move a production of “Madame Sousatzka” from Toronto’s Elgin Theatre to Broadway.  The Toronto production is expected to open late this year or early next.
Under terms of Drabinsky’s parole, he’s not allowed to run a company or handle other people’s money, but that changes in October when his parole period ends.
Madams Sousatzka is based on a 1988 movie that Drabinsky produced starring Shirley MacLaine as a reclusive piano teacher.
