After being touted as the solution to delays in clearing American Customs at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, the new “Security in Advance” program, which launched yesterday, was anything but.
SECURITY AT PEARSON
Several hundred people actually missed their flights to the U.S. yesterday morning after being held up for 3 hours in a security line that barely moved.  One woman said she and her family arrived at Pearson at 5:15 am and were held up so long they missed their 8:30 am departure.
The new program was supposed to send U.S. bound passengers through a security check point using passport kiosks before sending them on to U.S. customs.
“Security in Advance” was officially launched yesterday with the President and CEO of Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, Angus Watt, assuring travelers of the positives of the new program.
So far there is no explanation from the Airport for the delays and the missed flights.
