We’re starting 3 days when the temperature will reach 32 or higher.
Humidex values will approach and pass 40 degrees celcius at times today, Friday and Saturday. A heat warning is in effect for Toronto, issued by both Environment Canada and now the City’s Medical Officer of Health, urging us to prevent heat related illnesses.
Health risks in the heat are greatest for older people and young children, as well as people with chronic illnesses such as breathing difficulties and heart conditions.
If you experience symptoms of heat illness, (dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache, rapid breathing and heartbeat), you’re advised to immediately move to a cool place and drink water. And of course, never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
