“I accept your nomination for president of the United States!”

With that declaration last night at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Hillary Clinton becomes the first woman presidential nominee for a one of the two major political parties.

Clinton told delegates the U.S. needs a leader who will work with the country’s allies on matters of security.

And she questioned whether Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has the temperament to be commander in chief, stating “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons.”

Clinton cast herself as a unifier for divided times as well as an experienced leader steeled for a volatile world.

There were some signs of discontent amid the celebration of Hillary Clinton’s acceptance of the Democratic nomination.

As Clinton spoke, several people unfurled a banner that said “Wikileaks”, a reference to the leaked party e-mails that some say show the Democratic National Committee favoured Clinton over primary rival Bernie Sanders.
