The Toronto Police Traffic Services is expressing concern over what’s being called a staggering increase in the number of drug impaired driving cases.
Toronto Police Constable Clint Stibbe told a panel discussion on impaired driving last night that the city has seen triple the drug-impaired driving cases so far this year. There were 19 between January and August of last year. The figure climbs to 58 between January and August of this year.
Constable Stibbe says surprisingly, marijuana is not the main cause of the increase. He blames that on prescription drugs.
