We find out later today Canada’s pick for best-foreign language film at the Oscars when Telefilm Canada makes the official announcement this afternoon in Montreal.
Canada’s has had four movies complete in the category in the past six years. The last finalist was “Rebelle” or “War Witch” (in English) in 2013. It’s the story of a 12 year old girl in sub-Saharan Africa forced by rebel gunmen to kill her parents.
Today’s selection was made by a 23-member committee made up of government and film industry representatives.
