The Toronto Transit Commission Board is set to discuss a report at its meeting today which could launch another player into the ride sharing industry and that player is the TTC.
The report says that “microtransit” companies could be a solution for neighbourhoods that often go underserved by public transit. The report, gives only fragments of the idea and could result in the TTC hiring the Uber ride-sharing service or contracting minibuses.
The report recommends a pilot project but also warns that the “microtransit” approach could increase congestion and further erode TTC ridership and revenue.
