It’s in Jackson Park – on the south side of Chicago – on the site of the future home of U.S. President Barack Obama’s library.
The installation is titled Skylanding.
The artwork is made up of 12 large steel lotus petals that emerge from the ground – and is described by Ono as “a place where the sky and earth meet and create a seed to learn about the past and come together to create a future of peace and harmony with nature and each other.”
Ono’s idea began three years ago during a visit to Chicago – for a cherry blossom tree installation.
