It’s the journey of Libby Znaimer‘s diagnosis of pancreatic cancer to a complete recovery eight years later.

Libby’s documentary is called Cancer Saved My Life.

It showcases the remarkable work of doctors at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in developing a treatment based on her case that is the foundation for ongoing research to help others diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Libby says she was motivated to do the documentary in part because of a gene that is in her family.

“There is a genetic mutation, a cancer causing mutation in the family,” Libby explains, “and I found out when I was already middle-aged and had already been diagnosed with breast cancer. My brother Sam also tested positive and he has two children and that was one of the things that inspired me to do it, because it’s a whole other ballgame for a young person possibly facing this and also face these questions of do they want a test, when do they want to test, what do they want to do.”

Watch Libby Znaimer’s documentary Cancer Saved My Life tonight (Monday Oct. 17th) at 9 on our sister station Vision TV; Rogers channel 60 and 237, Bell 261 and Bell Fibe 213.
