The premiers of Ontario and Quebec are expected to sign a new seven year electricity agreement today when cabinet ministers from both governments hold a joint meeting here in Toronto.

The deal will reportedly see Ontario import up to two terawatt hours of electricity from Quebec each year, enough to power a city the size of Kitchener.

It’s also expected to save Ontario’s electricity system about $70-million in costs over the seven years.

Meantime, it seems Ontario voters don’t expect Premier Kathleen Wynne will stick around to lead the Liberals into the 2018 election. A new Forum Research poll finds Wynne’s Liberals continue to lag well behind Patrick Brown’s Progressive Conservatives in public support, with 49 percent saying someone else will lead the Liberals by the next provincial election.

Wynne has been premier since February of 2013 and has always maintained that she has no plans to step down before the election.
