Tom Hayden made headlines in the 1960s with his radical activism, his marriage to Jane Fonda and his trips to North Vietnam during the war.
Hayden wrote a number of books including a memoir and a retrospective look at the Chicago 8 (later the Chicago 7) who were charged with conspiracy and inciting to riot over protests that took place in Chicago during the Democratic National Convention in 1968.
Hayden died yesterday in Santa Monica, California, after a long illness.
