Canada’s biggest pharmacy chain’s applied to be a distributor of medical marijuana.

A spokesperson for Shoppers Drug Mart said it has no intention of producing it but do want the ability to dispense it, the same as any other drug.
Latest government data shows over 75,000 Canadians had valid prescriptions for medical marijuana at the end of June – a number that’s tripled in the past year.
Anyone who needs it has to either produce it themselves or buy it from one of a few dozen licensed producers – a list Shoppers wants to be on.
Another pharmacy chain, Rexall, says there’s too much uncertainty in the market right now.
The Trudeau government has said it intends to legalize marijuana with certain conditions.
