Staff at Toronto Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) reportedly alerted police about information given them by the former nurse now charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of eight long-term care facility patients.

A police source familiar with the investigation claims CAMH phoned Toronto police back in September about information they received about the deaths of patients from Elizabeth Wettlaufer.

Since the allegations did not involve Toronto residents, the service alerted other police agencies, including the OPP.

Wettlaufer, the former nurse, was charged Tuesday in connection with the deaths between August 2007 and August 2014.
