It’s an iconic part of Toronto’s history.

Old City Hall at the corner of Queen and Bay will no longer be used by the provincial courts by 2021, so now it’s future is up for discussion.

A first public meeting was held last night to discuss what could be done with Old City Hall, and many like the idea of a museum.

“The city certainly needs a museum. It has a huge collection of material that sits in a warehouse out in the west end certainly the City of Toronto is one of the few major cities in the world that doesn’t have a city museum, said veteran Toronto architect Peter Ortved.

It’s unclear how much it would cost to convert the historic brown brick building to a museum. Toronto Old City Hall first opened in 1899.
