There were red flags all over the Ontario Auditor General’s report, some of them focusing on questionable billing practices by doctors.

Bonnie Lysik found that some family doctors failed to work the number of nights and weekends required and that nine specialists billed the provincial health plan for working every day of the past year  Lysik says oversight of fee-for-service payments to doctors is weak and that the Health Ministry doesn’t investigate many “anomalous” doctor billings.
Among the other highlights…
– Ontario spent $8 billion over the last 14 years to implement electronic health records but that initiative still isn’t complete.

– Ontario’s cap-and-trade program will cost about $8 billion over the next three years but will generate less than 20 per cent of the government’s target of emissions reductions

– The Wynne Liberal Government paid highway contractors about $8 million a year in bonuses for meeting an asphalt quality standard, even in cases when the contractors tampered with samples in order to qualify for those bonuses.
