The Wynne government introduces legislation that supports implementation of physician-assisted dying.

The Medical Assistance In Dying Statute includes a number of changes to several pieces of legislation to provide clarity on the issue for patients, families, doctors and other health-care providers.
These amendments align Ontario’s regulations with federal legislation passed last June, spelling out how medical assisted death can be provided, and outlining the criteria for eligibility such as an incurable medical condition.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins says they’ll also protect doctors and those who assist them from civil liability when they lawfully help someone die.
Additionally, the changes will ensure that benefits, such as insurance payments are not denied because of a medically-assisted death.
