A new Angus Reid Poll for CIBC suggests we’re trimming our holiday spending this year by an average of 8%.
The survey determined that Canadians will spend an average of almost $600 dollars.
Albertans will spend 6% more this season. Ontarians and Quebecers are cutting their holiday budgets by an average of 11%. Shoppers in Altantic Canada are still the country’s top gift-buyers, spending just over $800.
The survey also suggests millennials are reducing their holiday spend by 14% to an average of about $400 and are more apt to put things on plastic.
But despite the good intentions, slightly more than half of us expect to go over budget.
