Yahoo announced earlier this week that it believes hackers stole data from over 1-billion user accounts in August 2013.
The company says it’s a different one from the break disclosed in September, when Yahoo said 500-million accounts were exposed.
It says the information stolen may include names, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, security questions and answer.
Yahoo does not think that bank account information and payment card data were affected.
The proposed $50-million suit comes on the heels of a similar action in the U.S.
