Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump have talked on the phone since he moved into the White House in January, but the prime minister will finally have his first face-to-face with the new president on Monday.

Each government’s issued a statement.
The PMO saying they will discuss ”the unique relationship between Canada and the United States” and how best to ”work hard for middle-class Canadians and Americans, together.”
The White House put one out saying the two leaders are looking forward to ”a constructive conversation on strengthening the relationship between our two nations.”
Official word of the meeting comes the day after new Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland visited Washington and on the same day Finance Minister Bill Morneau is in Washington.
He’s meeting members of Congress and the administration to drive home a point Canada’s eagerly making as NAFTA trade negotiations approach – trade between our countries is good.
It’s one of the points Morneau made in a speech at Georgetown University, pointing out nine-million American jobs are tied to trade with Canada.
