The Canada-Europe trade deal has taken another step forward with the European Union parliament voting to ratify.

The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, known as CETA, is designed to unite the market of 35-million Canadians with the market of 500-million Europeans.

Ratification by the European Union parliament now paves the way for 90% of the agreement to come into force once our House of Commons votes to follow suit in the coming months.

The trade deal is one of the items on the agenda for Prime Minister Trudeau’s upcoming trip to Europe.
