Senator Don Meredith says he won’t be rushed into resigning – in spite of calls for him to do so – over a sexual relationship with a 16 year old girl.
During an interview with The Canadian Press, Meredith apologized for what he called – a “moral failure” – and says he is “considering his options.”
A Senate ethics report concluded Meredith didn’t meet the standard expected of a Canadian senator.
In the report Meredith said he only had sexual relations with the woman – after she turned 18.
Meredith says he has taken sick leave on the advice of his doctor.
