Nobel laureate Derek Walcott has died at his home in St.Lucia –  at the age of 87.
Walcott won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992.
He’s described as a prolific and versatile poet – whose dazzling work captured the essence of his native Caribbean – and earned Walcott a reputation as one of the greatest writers of the second half of the 20th century.
No cause was given for Walcott’s death – but his family said he had been ill for some time.
