Starbucks Canada is promising to hire at least one-thousand refugees over the next five years – and most of the jobs will be permanent positions starting at minimum wage.
The company says it will begin recruiting candidates through the national organization, Hire Immigrants – within the next two months.
It will concentrate on finding potential employees mostly in regions with the largest number of refugees – including Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.
The commitment is part of the coffee retailer’s worldwide goal announced in January – to hire 10 thousand refugees – in response to U-S President Donald Trump’s temporary travel bans against Muslim-majority countries.
