Add another accolade to the storied career of Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison.
The 86 year old author, who already has a Pulitzer Prize, is to receive the American Academy of Arts and Sciences’ Emerson-Thoreau Medal tonight in a ceremony in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The prize was established in 1958 and is awarded to individuals to recognize a lifetime of literary achievements. It comes with a $25,000 cheque.
Previous recipients include Robert Frost, T.S. Eliot, Norman Mailer and Philip Roth.
