Long promised legislation to legalize marijuana in Canada is expected to be introduced today at noon by the Trudeau Liberals in Ottawa.

Measures are expected to include limits for legal possession, age restrictions for retailers, marketing rules, and tougher penalties for impaired driving. There is also word the bill will include rules requiring producers to sell their pot in plain packaging.

Marijuana activist Jodie Emery, wife of the so-called Prince of Pot Marc Emery, was among the guests on a recent episode of The Zoomer on our sister station Vision TV.

“The fact that marijuana legalization is happening is because people sacrificed and suffered like my husband…Our people, our community, our culture has been here for decades and I’ve been demonized. We’re second class citizens, you can’t travel the U.S.” explained Jodie Emery.

Canada was actually the first nation to legalize marijuana for medical use back in 2001 after the Canadian Court of Appeal declared medical marijuana prohibition unconstitutional.
