A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for a large swath of southern Ontario – including the GTA.
The weather office says the rain will spread into the region this afternoon and won’t taper back to showers until Saturday night. With the ground saturated the rain could lead to flooding and you are advised to keep children and pets away from washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. If you do see catch-basins starting to overflow you are asked to report that by calling 311.
Toronto could break a rainfall record which was set on this day in 1984 when 18.8 millimetres of rain was recorded.
