You’re being asked to help Toronto police identify a woman they say tricked a mortgage lender into providing a $1.3-million mortgage on property … she didn’t own.
Investigators says after financing was secured in January 2016, the mortgage was registered to the home and the money was then given to a numbered company through a lawyer.
The mystery woman had told the lawyer the money was needed to pay off a lien.
When the rightful owner received mortgage documents, the fraud was reported to the bank.
(Toronto Police Service)
Anyone with information about the woman shown above is asked to contact police at 416-808-7300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS
