You’re being asked to help Toronto police identify a woman they say tricked a mortgage lender into providing a $1.3-million mortgage on property … she didn’t own.
Investigators says after financing was secured in January 2016, the mortgage was registered to the home and the money was then given to a numbered company through a lawyer.
The mystery woman had told the lawyer the money was needed to pay off a lien.
When the rightful owner received mortgage documents, the fraud was reported to the bank.
