Motorists who regularly take the DVP took their usual Friday drive home.
Given the forecast, the city of Toronto was considering closing the southern portion – from Don Mills to the Gardiner Expressway.
But since precipitation was not as intense as had been predicted officials felt there was no need to proceed with the partial closure.
The city will continue monitoring the situation as the rain’s expected to continue through Saturday.
If conditions worsen then the closure of the lower part of the DVP may still be necessary.

In 2013, it way was closed between Bloor and the Gardiner after the Don River overflowed and covered that stretch of the Parkway.
