Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says public safety, not figuring out who pays for what’s top priority in tackling the floods.
About 1,650 Armed Forces members have been deployed to help in southern Quebec.
Marine vessels, a dozen helicopters and a Hercules transport are on standby if needed.
Ontario is getting 250,000 more sandbags from the federal government.
The province has not asked for any military personnel.
In addition to flooding in Ontario and Quebec, the Trudeau government’s keeping an eye on water conditions in the Gaspe and along the north shore of the St. Lawrence, New Brunswick, and the B.C. interior.
