The Edmonton MP will make the announcement Tuesday morning in a breakfast speech ahead of a planned tribute in the House of Commons.
She’s been serving as interim party leader since former prime minister Stephen Harper resigned following the last federal election.
The Conservatives are in the process of selecting a new leader with the winner to be announced at a convention May 27.
Ambrose is expected to stay on until then, after which she’ll step down as MP once the spring sitting of Parliament ends in June.
She was first elected an MP in 2004 and served in several cabinet positions under Harper.
